Shinji Saito has worried about data backup for quite some time. As the chief information security officer at Tokyo-based cloudpack (Iret, Inc., an Amazon Web Services managed services provider), Saito wanted the highest quality of protection for his company’s and their customers’ data. He recognized the need to establish a robust data recovery plan from PCs and corrupt data for all endpoints and cloud applications under his responsibility. He also sought to fulfill the requirements for backing up critical data.
Finding a Solution with Druva
Saito sought a cloud-based backup solution for cloudpack that would work with elastic and scalable data and provide rapid data recovery. “Using cloud storage means we let the user handle important corporate data,” Saito wrote.

The inSync deduplication feature also has the added benefits of saving time and bandwidth in managing data. “[I]f there is duplicated data on backup . . . they don’t send data to the targeted storage. They figure out which data has been backed up already. For server-side deduplications, we can compress stored data, but when it comes with client side deduplication, we can also save network bandwidth,” Saito wrote. “It’s so nice!”
Summarizing the results, Saito gave two thumbs up to Druva, writing, “As I thought, Druva is the most powerful backup tool!” In fact, Druva inSync worked so well that Saito outlined the solution in a Japanese publication.
